Energy

David A. Bainbridge has been a professor, researcher, author and consultant in sustainable management. His Papers contain manuscripts and published versions of his writings which primarily focus on sustainability, solar energy, agroforestry, and restoration ecology. The writings include book chapters, articles, proceedings, research reports, notes, abstracts, book reviews, and selected presentations authored or jointly authored by Bainbridge from 1971-2017. Also included are photographs and slides of straw bale buildings.

Books, correspondence, ephemera, financial papers, photographs, serials, and working files relating to energy use; some of these materials were once part of a lending library on alternative energy generation. Earthmind is a non-profit corporation founded in 1972 to develop alternative energy and to contribute to a lifestyle independent of organized society. Originating in Saugus, California, and later moving to Mariposa County, the collective focused on solar and wind power generation. Earthmind's central figure, Michael Hackleman, supported the group by putting up wind machines and by publishing books and articles on alternative energy.

Materials related to the 2012 California Higher Education Sustainability Conference held at UC Davis, sustainablity awards received by the campus as well as plans and brochures created by the office.

Office files, correspondence, photographs, awards, and memorabilia relating to U.S. Representative Victor H. (Vic) Fazio's more than 20 years in public life. Files on Auburn Dam and closure of McClellan Air Force Base, briefing books on policy decisions, proposals for Sacramento Valley water and flood issues, and details on the evolution of food quality acts are included in the collection.

Isao Fujimoto (1933-) is Senior Lecturer Emeritus of Asian American Studies and the UC Davis Graduate Program in Community Development. He joined UC Davis in 1967 as a founding member of the community development program and later was a founding member of the Asian-American Studies program. His papers include correspondence, personal journals, and publications related to farm worker and immigrant rights, development of the Northern California food movement, green technology, and community and rural development.

Collection includes 1974 and 1981 "Energy Requirements for Agriculture in California" joint studies, publications on energy use in crop production.

The development, allocation, and use of California’s natural resources are the focus of these UC Davis Collections. Materials regarding land formations, water pathways, and climate range from the scientific to the lyrical, the pragmatic to the ideal, and the environmental awareness expressed in each of the collections is of particular interest. Materials are primarily in English. Although there are no geographical limits, most materials focus on California’s natural resources.
