Scholar Profiles and Identifiers

ORCID Record

ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID. Creating an ORCID also provides you with a public profile page where you can list your publications (known in the profile as "works"), and other CV information such as education, employment etc.

  • Distinguish yourself from other researchers with the same or similar name to you
  • Minimise repetitive data entry by linking systems together
  • Comply with funders and Publishers requirement for including ORCIDs
  • Link your ORCID and share information with other author identifier systems, including your Scopus Author ID and Web of Science ResearcherID
  • Develop your ORCID profile page and you can import or list your publications, employment and education details
  • Include your ORCID on your CV, email signature and more

Get an ORCID

Registering for an ORCID iD helps to promote discoverability among multiple information platforms and workflows as well as establishing a unique presence for researchers and scholars, regardless of name variants or affiliation history.

Registration for the ORCID iD is free and privacy settings are controlled by the individual. To register, complete a short registration form and select register.

Once you have an ORCID, you can optimize it by connecting it to databases such as Scopus and Web of Science and systems like the UC Publication Management System and SciENcv. This will allow publications that are attributed to you in one system to be shared across other systems avoiding duplicative workflows.
