UWP 49: Writing Research Papers

Citation Managers

Citation managers are software tools that help you to store and organize your research.  Finding sources is just the first step.  Securing them, organizing them, annotating them, and adapting your system to new information is no trivial task.  You can think of a citation manager as a bucket into which you can pour your research without having it leak away and negating your efforts.

Among various products, one that offers great advantages for UC Davis is Sciwheel.  It is was originally made available as part of the library's subscription to the database, Faculty Opinions.  As a result, it is free to all members of the University.  Users can create a free account by going to the SciWheel website and registering with their Kerberos login and password.  The learning process is straightforward with instructional videos and tech support provided by chat within the account.
